Briefly about changes in Google Pay
Google Pay updates are announced at the annual developer conference called Google I/O. The conference has traditionally been held in May or June at the Moscone Center in San Francisco since 2008. Over the course of its existence, the service has undergone many changes, including several changes to the name of the mobile application. The first versions of the applications were not available in Russia.
2011
Google announced the launch of the Google Walletdominican republic mobile phone number listpayment system. Users of smartphones running Android with NFC support were given the opportunity to pay for purchases with their phone using the application of the same name.
That same year, Google added a new feature that allowed users to send money via phone or computer. With this innovation, the app received a new name - Google Pay Send.
2013
A plastic Google card appeared, which performed the same functions as the mobile application, in addition, users could withdraw money from ATMs. Google Wallet plastic cards served as an addition to the main application.
2015
Android Pay launches in the United States. Android Pay was based on the Google Wallet payment system, but now users can pay in stores and use loyalty cards by simply pointing their smartphone over the reader. In 2017, Android Pay became available in Russia.
2018
Google has announced that the previously separate Google Wallet and Android Pay apps are now one app called Google Pay. With the release of the Google Pay app comes their own card format. These cards only work in the Google Pay app, but the app itself can be used from any Android device.
